QB7 Receiver Training
Footwork – although many people may think that your hands are the most important part of being a receiver, if you can’t release off the ball and run routes that allow you to get open, you will never have a chance to catch a ball. You will learn the best releases against off and press, man and zone coverages. You will also learn how to stem your routes to complement each other
Hand Development – Being able to catch anything is a must as a receiver, especially at the high school level. You will learn drills that allow you to maximize your catching ability as well as develop strength and control of your hands. Learn when and how to catch the ball from any angle and any position
Route Precision – Consistency in route running is as important to the receiver as it is to the Quarterback. To master the passing game, the relationship with the QB must be a completely autonomous one. Running consistent routes gives the QB trust that you will always be where you are supposed to and allows him to make quick decisions and get the ball out.
Route Concepts – Learn the concepts that work against different coverage’s and how your QB will be reading these route concepts. Sometimes taking coverage with you is more important than trying to be the primary receiver on every play
Coverage Recognition – Many high school offenses are getting more and more complex. One way they are doing this is coverage recognition and route adjustments. Learn what adjustments are most common to the many routes that you will learn. Also learn to pre-snap read the defense and where the weaknesses are for each of those types of converages.
